Sleeper TEs to get you to the fantasy football championship

At least from my experience, tight end is a position that often gets overlooked by fantasy football owners. Why? Well, I suppose it has something to do with the fact that-on average-tight ends do not tend to put up as many points as other offensive players.

However, as you are coming down to the playoffs, every little point matters more and more. Therefore, getting the most out of your tight ends is critical. I reviewed the schedules of each team in NFL, and considered the implications on the tight ends for those respective teams.

The following is a list of three tight ends that are not normally considered to be TE elites in the NFL that you should be looking to start going into the final stretch, and why:

1. Alge Crumpler – as everyone knows, Crumpler has become the main target of cornerback Michael Vick, in Atlanta. With 39 receptions and 588 yards, Crumpler is have a decent season. Crumpler has decent matchups in the next few weeks (Tampa Bay, Dallas, and Carolina). However, it is unlikely that Crumpler is available under waiver wire. If your league is like most leagues, the trade deadline has already passed. Therefore, you are relegated to free agents. Therefore, the next two recommendations may be a possibility for you-if you are still in need of a tight end.
2. L.J. Smith – Although he will be on the road in Washington, Dallas, and New York, you have to look at the individual match-ups. And, if you do, you will find that these are highly favorable match-ups for a TE. Think about L.J..
3. Bubba Franks – So far the season Bubba Franks has been extremely quiet. He only has 178 yards in zero touchdowns. However, that could change the next few weeks. As I have emphasized with the other TEs, I would look at the individual match ups. And, Franks will be facing favorable matchups in San Francisco, Detroit, and Minnesota.

Look, the tight end position is not typically a position to get too excited about fantasy. However, it is a great opportunity to score some points that you may desperately need in the end to win a fantasy championship.
